Genomic Medicine is the application of knowledge of the Human Genome to the practice of Medicine. A specialty that today has clinical results as surprising as new. In this sense, Aurea Clinic offers its patients the latest technologies within the reach of science, applied to the prevention of various pathologies, helping, in this way, to change behaviors and habits that could be harming their health or adopt measures to counteract their genetic inclination.

Data sheet

  • The test: We’ll just take a sample of saliva. You must avoid having eaten, drunk, smoked or used perioral cosmetics (lipstick or cocoa) at least one hour before taking the sample.
  • Featured types:
    • Nutrigenetic
    • Golfgenetic
    • Androgenetic alopecia
  • Results: Report at 15 to 20 days. Nutrition work plan or daily habits adapted to your genetic inheritance
What does it consist of?

AUREA GENETIC
It is what we call today «Personalized Medicine», which allows us to evaluate all the risk factors (environmental, diet, lifestyles and genetic) of each person, and thus be able to develop an individual preventive diagnosis of those pathologies that are not They have manifested yet. New diagnostic technologies allow adapting the right patient, with the appropriate treatment and at the right time, variables of vital importance in the preservation of health.

What is a genetic test?
It is a medical test in which different DNA fragments of a person are analyzed in order to detect possible genetic variants that can lead to different pathologies and thus prevent them, in the same way that it provides us with very valuable information to identify conditions and developed and eradicated. Through a sample of saliva, analyzed with the appropriate technology and based on a medical interpretation of the diagnostic results, we can know what degree of risk we contain in our genetic code to develop a disease, as well as to what extent we are adapting our style of life to our organism.

What is it for?
A genetic test serves, in short, to know our genetic code; information that is very useful in medicine. Just as we have to know what blood group we belong to, how high we have cholesterol or what amount of leukocytes we carry in the blood in certain occasions to treat a generic symptomatology, knowing our DNA will help us adapt our lifestyle and daily behavior to the potential of our body to maximize our performance and improve our health. Thus, we analyze the genetic information, unique to each individual. The results are for life.

How can I use the results for my health?
Thanks to the genetic tests, we take a giant step in terms of disease prevention, anticipating (as far as possible) the consequences that certain habits that we have acquired can cause, or certain characteristics that we simply carry in our DNA . The results of the test are presented in two formats:
– On the one hand, a report for the doctor, who will interpret the information extracted from the patient’s DNA to give him the pertinent advice to avoid pathologies and maximize the performance of his organism.
– On the other hand, the patient is given an easily comprehensible guide that he can use throughout his life to adapt his behavior to the possibilities of his genome.
What kind of information does Aurea Genetic genetic testing offer?
The basic test consists of three modules related to nutrition, one of the factors that most affects the genetics of individuals together with the environment, from which we start to know with a holistic view of the patient’s genome. These modules are: adjustment of diet, genetic intolerances and eating behavior.

This information can be completed according to the needs of each patient, choosing by modules the information you want to receive in your genetic report, thus, we have prevention modules for injuries associated with sports, metabolic health, facial health and cancer prevention, among others.

Nutrigenetics

Nutrigenomics or nutrigenetics is the science that defines the relationship between diet and our genetically determined response. Our genes make us different when assimilating and metabolizing nutrients. Therefore, a better knowledge of our organism through a nutrigenic test allows us to improve our eating patterns and lifestyle. A correct diet according to our genetics can help us prevent diseases, have better physical appearance or lose weight, among other things.

Currently, Nutritional Genomics is divided into two clearly differentiated fields of research:

Understand how the nutrients we incorporate with diet influence cellular homeostasis, altering gene activity, protein production and / or the production of metabolites. It is the Nutrigenomics proper.
Characterize how different variants of the human genome influence the body’s response to nutrients, increasing or decreasing the risk of suffering diseases related to nutrition. The study and characterization of these variants, as well as the molecular bases of said predispositions, is called Nutrigenetics.
The applications of genetic tests are not only aimed at choosing an adequate diet to lose weight, but can indicate our tendency to suffer certain sports injuries, according to a specific activity, the ability of our skin to produce hyaluronic acid or its tendency to aging early. They also help us determine if our biological age corresponds to our chronological age, in addition to the already known food intolerances or predispositions to suffer certain types of cancer.

Therefore, the result of genetic tests, not only tell us what is the impact of certain nutrients in our body, but the time at which they must be consumed. In addition, the recommendation can be extended to other procedures or treatments beyond the diet such as hyaluronic acid infiltration or modifications of specific physical activity.

Alopecia test

With the latest advances, the treatment of androgenetic alopecia has improved remarkably. Each person has a different genetic disposition, so with this genetic test of
Androgenetic alopecia that is performed in Aurea Clinic, you can predict the behavior against hair loss. as well as the response of each patient to the drugs most used in men, and their effectiveness.

Benefits of this test
This genetic test allows detecting the risk that a person has in developing androgenetic alopecia, and that is to prevent hair loss is fundametal determine this risk. In general, the signs of androgenetic alopecia do not present visible signs until 50% of the capillary density is normally lost and many times it is already too late for the treatment and the possibilities of regeneration, so this genetic test offers the possibility to prevent hair loss, the best way to prevent hair loss.

Genetics of androgenetic alopecia
The test determines the presence of several genetic variants of risk, where the combination of risk genotypes are interpreted by means of a specialized algorithm that generates a percentage of risk of suffering from alopecia and, therefore, determine the probable causes of developing this condition. People who have these risk variants and / or have a risk score are considered high risk, since they have more than 70% chance of suffering from alopecia. Those who present low risk variants and / or present a low risk score have a lower risk, of approximately 15% chance.

In short, this test measures the following aspects:
– The genetic risk that a person has of developing androgenetic alopecia in order to prevent it or determine its genetic origin to differentiate it from the environmental or hormonal origin.
– The response to drugs used to treat alopecia.

Extraction protocol, sample conservation and transport
For this case, we will use an oral swab as a source material for the extraction of DNA from people of interest. Next, we detail the protocol of action for the correct sample collection:

– Sterile gloves must be used at all times for the collection of samples.
– It is not recommended to drink, eat or smoke for at least 30 minutes before collection.
– Break the safety seal of the swab provided by our laboratory, rub 20 times on the left side of the wedding and another 20 times on the right side.
– Allow the swab to dry for 20-30 minutes at room temperature, and reinsert it into its receptacle.
– Store at 4ºC until shipment.
